OOPS! DID IT AGAIN
Have you heard the news? The media people are all over the story on how Blu-Ray defeated HD-DVD.
What's wrong with these people? Aren’t they supposed to be on top of it?

Over a month ago, the Frugal Yankee reported the battle was lost. Listen to our podcast And the Winner is...BLU-RAY, to see what I mean.

Did we do some intense research? Nope.
Did we have some Deep Throat insider? Nope.

All we did was read the newspapers and ask a few questions. Then we called up one of our regular guests and asked a few more questions.

Now as much as I would like to flatter myself (check out our segment on flattery), we did nothing special. So when the media shouts out that HD-DVD is dead, what they are really saying is how slow on the uptake they are.

I used to love newspapers. I used to love watching documentaries on TV. I loved getting political news and insight from all sorts of sources. These days, the media is a bloated, repetitive entertainment. Even alleged ‘news’ cable stations resort to weird hype, and the same old same old tired stories. Clinton’s a lock. McCain’s on deaths bed, ad nausem. They are like a dog with a rubber ball, chewing and chewing and getting nowhere.

This is why, I am excited by Citizen Journalism. It may be flawed, but at least it will be real. I’m not sure the Frugal Yankee falls into that category, but one thing you can be assured of, we will always try to find ways for you to spend less AND enjoy life.
