WHEN TO BUY
The Frugal Yankee isn't sure about this one, but folks who allegedly know advise us to hold off on buying a winter oil contract to late summer. They are predicting a 50ยข a gallon drop in the price as refineries switch from gas to heating oil. (The Week)

The NYT reports the 'organic' baby formula has more pure cane sugar than any other brand. It sells for 30% more and has captured 36% of the baby formula market. (US News & World Report)

First it was air plane seats and now it's emergency vehicles. The burgeoning bottoms of Americans is forcing towns and companies providing ambulances to the stricken to buy newer, bigger equipment to handle the obese and over weight.The NYT reports today the number of "calls from obese patients has increased 25% in recent years". Ambulances equipped for 1000 pound people costs $40,000 more than the regular ambulance which costs $70,000. (The Week)

Speaking of tushies. Just when you thought fashions couldn't get weirder, they do. A Canadian company has introduced a new line of men's underwear. It's called Bottoms Up. They are are padded boxers for men with scrawny, sagging or flat rear ends.

Why is this man smiling? This CEO was just paid $1 million in salary AND $6 million in bonuses. By George, his company must be doing pretty darn good, right? Wrong.The company is KB Homes. In 2007 they lost $929 million. Ouch! But CEO Jeff Mezger made $7 million. You know, what I could use a job like that. I could lose $929 million, too.
