As we rapidly approach the time when I'll be getting some coal in my stocking, here are a few tips:
• When shopping on the web, be sure you check out the shipping costs. A good price can be ruined by outrageous shipping.
• Be real leery of gift cards this year. On top of all the other warnings, lots of stores are going belly up, or closing branches. That gift card could be virtually useless.
